Mantus aboard Sophisticated Lady
When you live at anchor, ground tackle is what lets everyone sleep. Our anchors are Mantus, paired with CROMOX stainless chain.
What we run
- Primary: Mantus M1 125 lb stainless, on 100 m of CROMOX stainless chain.
- Secondary: Mantus M2 55 lb stainless, on 100 ft of CROMOX stainless chain.
- Dinghy: a 10 lb stainless Mantus anchor.
- Mantus pointed us to CROMOX to complete the anchor system.
From Mantus
M1: “a roll-bar boat anchor engineered to dig fast, set deep, and reset reliably when the wind or tide shifts.” It bolts apart for compact storage as a spare.
M2: “engineered to set on the first attempt, every time.” Without a roll bar it is less bulky, a better fit for slotted bow-pulpit housings and bowsprits.
Mantus stainless anchors use a 2205 Duplex shank and a 316L stainless fluke, shot-peened and electro-polished. Engineered in the USA, made in Texas.
