Jackery

Portable power, tested on a real boat. Jackery makes portable power stations, home backup batteries and folding solar panels.

Jackery is one of our partners and supplied the system we tested in SSL782. The tests, numbers and opinions are our own. This page is our own short summary of jackery.com.

Who they are

Since 2012

Jackery was founded in 2012 to make portable battery power that’s easy to use, at home and outdoors. They say they’ve sold more than 7 million units.

Who it’s built for

Homeowners who want backup power when the grid goes down, plus campers, RVers, off-grid cabins and anyone who works away from an outlet.

What they’re saying right now

Their homepage leads with home backup: “When the lights go out, our power backup kicks in.” The HomePower 3600 Plus, the unit we tested, sits front and center, next to kits that pair their power stations with SolarSaga panels.

On Sophisticated Lady

Our everyday house power is a 48V lithium system with 3,200W of solar. Jackery is portable power we put to a real test aboard.

What we run

  • SSL782 (October 2026): a HomePower 3600 Plus with its Battery Pack 3600, 7.2 kWh in all, plus Jackery’s new SolarSaga 500 X bifacial panels
  • The result: it ran the whole boat, A/C included, for 9 hours 47 minutes on one charge
  • Efficiency: 6.76 of its 7.2 kWh delivered, 93.8%. Recharging from the boat came in at about 91%
  • Solar: over 300W at 9:15 in the morning through the boat’s shadows, and 350 to 420W at midday
  • SSL698 (2023): a Jackery Explorer 1000 Plus, tested in Maddy’s galley

What “the whole boat” means

Every night Sophisticated Lady runs:

  • A household fridge/freezer, a second fridge and a second freezer
  • A 10-camera security system that runs 24/7
  • The editing computers, the TV and soundbar
  • Starlink and its modem
  • LED lights in the cockpit all night
